It was Man City where he had an assist as Jack Collison scored in a 1-0 win.
Looked back and he only started 1 match and was a sub in 10 others incl the above game.

From what I read he was sold to Fiorentina for 3.2m Euros plus Manuel DaCosta
We may not have paid £9m up front or at all but can recall other players (Daprela? Diamanti?) were given away or sold at reduced prices to Brescia in Diamanti’s case to offset what we still owed.

Re: Savio Nsereko
I remember Savio coming on as sub against someone and looking fairly lively, although an on target shot (which led to a goal?) became the highlight of his career here.

Wasn't the director of football here at the time (can't remember his name) related to the chairman of Brescia? Something very suspect about that transfer?

We are pretty good at signing players who look like they might be top class

Nagel 6:46 Wed Apr 29
Re: Savio Nsereko
Yeah, maybe "top class" was pushing it a bit. He definitely looked like he had the potential to be a top player at that time though, which he hadn't done before.

Re: Savio Nsereko
LOLton was never a top class player, he had a couple of good scoring runs in 10 years.

Other than that he was bobbins.

Nagel 5:39 Wed Apr 29 two sides to our Carlton, that great strike against Spurs at home and then minutes later he sets up Defoe for Spurs equaliser

Re: Savio Nsereko
I think he played in 6 or 7 int'l games in a pretty short period of time.

Re: Savio Nsereko
Cole according to Wiki had 7 caps, all from the sub bench. I was surprised is was that many actually.

Re: Savio Nsereko
Cole = Claudio Ranieri's 'Lion'. Not sure I recall him being an England regular, although he might have made a squad or two.

Nagel 5:39 Wed Apr 29
Re: Savio Nsereko
From about late December 2008-November 2009 Carlton Cole was actually a top class player. I remember just before then that he was really shit and Zola saying that he was going to do one on one training with him. He then scored 14 goals in 25 games in that period and started to become an England regular but went back to being a shit player from then on.

Wiki says Jimenez is still playing in Chile at 35!

Any word on whether Zola had red or brown sauce at his bbq?

Re: Savio Nsereko
To be fair, he'd just been player of the tournament at the U20 World Cup for Germany, so he was fairly hot property.

He definitely had something about him so his career should never have gone the way it has, even if he wasn't going to be good enough for the PL.

Re: Savio Nsereko
Quite a lot to raise your eyebrow at there.

Cole leading the line in a Champions League team?

That's it! Couldn't find the full quote.

Re: Savio Nsereko
"We had a barbeque at Gianfranco's house and were just talking but his whole team revolves around Jimenez. He's got Plan A and Plan B - Plan A is I'll have Jimenez there, Mancini there, Cole there, Behrami, Parker ... he said 'if that stays fit, it's Champions League!'. That is a team that he believes, if it stays fit will push on, so his whole team has been built round Jimenez."

That's what DUCKSBERET said.

The whole thing was just a Publicity stunt to sweeten the pill of selling Bellamy and not really replacing him with anyone

Re: Savio Nsereko
From what I recall Bentley wanted to buy and run a bar / club in Spain and hang out with beautiful women

Wasn’t our Director of Football the son in law of the Brescia owner?
So , we were lined up as the mugs

Would he have kept Mascherano out of the side ?
